T4T Recognition Breakfast

Friday, July 30, 2004, Teaming for Technology (T4T) held its first annual recognition breakfast to acknowledge some individuals that have been instrumental in making T4T a success. Also honored were the students that completed the Teen Technology Network (TTN) program. In addition, we formally welcomed the T4T Internship program to our partners.

Honorees included:

Government Partners of the Year Award – Sen. Arlen Specter, Sen. Rick Santorum, and Congressman Chaka Fattah
T4T Internship Organization of the Year Award - Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition
T4T School of the Year Award – Delaware County Community College
T4T Intern of the Year Award – Tommy Lee, Cassandra Ott
VISTA of the Year Award – Benjamin Bruening
Volunteer of the Year Award – Smita Pathawardan
Trainer of the Year Award – Bill Butler

Corporate Partner of the Year Award – Verizon and IBM
This award recognizes corporate partners who have shown great social responsibility in giving their time, resources, and innovative ideas to make social change possible through the work of T4T.

T4T recognizes Verizon Communications for their outstanding dedication to recognizing the potential of youth to change their world. In an essay contest that ran in high schools city-wide, Verizon charged our youth with expressing their ideas on how to use technology to change their community.

T4T also recognizes IBM for their product donation, Mentorplace.org. This is an online meeting tool where youth and e-mentors are given the opportunity to communicate in a safe and robust online environment. Globally available to IBM employees looking to become volunteer mentors, this product was made available to outside parties for the first time through United Way’s Teen Technology Network.
