Are you an Online Fundraiser?

If you are not yet fundraising online, or have just started, here’s your chance to maximize your success. Successful online fundraisers increase their organizations’ reach, engage new supporters, and communicate with their stakeholders more effectively – you can too.

On April 7th, Groundspring.org, in association with Teaming for Technology, will present the online strategy session “Building the eNonprofit.” In this full-day class, you’ll learn about the innovative ideas and groundbreaking techniques that organizations like yours are using to engage people and raise money online.

This workshop will cover: the definition and strategies of online fundraising; assessing your organizational capacity for Internet fundraising/engagement; developing a web presence and driving traffic to your site; using email effectively as a communications and fundraising tool; online donation processing systems; data integration issues; how to find and use Internet vendors; and a review of participant websites.

This session is appropriate for program, development, and IT staff, as well as for board members and chief executives. Registration is limited, so register today!

Training Sessions:

What is Online Fundraising?: We'll define online fundraising and describe the building blocks to a successful nonprofit Internet presence. Topics include traditional fundraising paradigms as they relate to the Internet, habits and needs of the online nonprofit supporter, and profiles of successful online nonprofits.

Organizational Capacity and Online Fundraising: We'll discuss what organizational pieces need to be in place for a successful Internet fundraising campaign. Students will participate in an in-class assessment of where their organization is at in implementing an Internet fundraising presence (web site, online donation processing, interactive web content, email messaging, database/Internet integration).

Creating an Effective Website: We'll look at the basic elements of a professional nonprofit website and discuss ways to catch donors on your website. Topics include the point of a website, how to write for the web, how to identify multiple content sources, how to make it easy for your donors to donate online, and tools used to create web relationships.

Driving Traffic to Your Site: We'll cover registering with search engines, meta tags, banner advertising, working with portals, partnerships, and other types of online promotion.

Email Communications Program: We'll cover why email is so important and delve into strategies for effective email communications (building email lists, e-newsletters, spam guidelines, email messaging vendors, online/offline fundraising campaigns). This session will introduce and describe the importance of email messaging software and review vendors and features.

Online Donation Processing: Participants will learn how to create a donor friendly site, what the rules and regulations are regarding online fundraising, and what to look for in an online donation processing system. A component of this section will review online donation process vendors/features and what to look for when choosing an online donation processing vendor.

Databases and Integrated Systems: This session covers database basics and the importance of a database administrator in matching email campaign data to database information. Students are introduced to the concept of integrated data systems and vendors.

Creating a Successful Internet Strategy and Online Campaign: We'll review the fundamentals of creating an online fundraising campaign/Internet strategy. Participants will begin their own Internet campaign and share their website and Internet strategy with the group.
