The Digital Divide
Problem:
In the United States, only 1 in 4 of the poorest families was online as of late 2001. Of families earning more than $75,000, 8 in 10 families were online.

Digitial Inclusion Program Outcomes:

  • Since March 2003, the Digital Inclusion program has connected 100 West Philadelphia families to the internet and has placed a computer in their homes
  • These 100 families have also received basic computer training that taught them important skills including budgeting, resume writing, and online research.
  • Nearly 100 students from West Philadelphia High School and University City High School have completed remedial training, service learning, and have received home computers with internet access
