Teaming for Technology is proud to be a local co-host and a
Day of Service partner for the 2004 N-TEN Nonprofit Technology
Conference Day of Service. Please be sure to visit us at Booth
#30 at the Science Fair on March 25, 2004 from 3:00 - 8:00pm
at the Wyndham Franklin Plaza Hotel.
What is the Science Fair?
The Science Fair is an opportunity for organizations that provide
technology services to the nonprofit sector to show off their
latest, greatest offerings to everyone attending the Nonprofit
Technology Conference. Sixty nonprofits and for-profits technology
services providers will be presenting. This marketplace of ideas
will be filled with simultaneous presentations and hands-on
demos. The Science Fair also includes the conferences' Opening
Reception; don't miss it!
Why do we call it the Science Fair?
Remember your Junior High Science Fair? You worked for weeks
to determine if plants grew better while listening to the Stones,
Kenny G, or Bach. Then you and your 300 classmates pasted your
data charts to poster board and set up your display in the multi-purpose
room. Well, you'll find much more impressive stuff in our Science
Fair, but the principle's the same: a bunch of folks who worked
hard to make something great, all in one room.
Who should attend the Science Fair?
Everyone! The Science Fair is open to the public and is FREE
for all attendees.
When is the Science Fair?
The Science Fair is held on Thursday, March 25 from 3:00pm to
8:00pm. For more information, please visit http://www.nten.org/ntc-science-fair
2.) The Beehive Feature
of the Week: Transportation
Phew! SEPTA thankfully didn't go on strike this week and some
major transportation catastrophes were avoided. However, there
may be times when you need transportation information as soon
as possible. Go to http://www.thebeehive.org/philly
and click on the Transportation link. Here, you'll find everything
from the best ways to get around in Philadelphia to how to apply
for a driver’s license to how to pay your parking tickets
online.
Check out
www.seniornet.org for information aimed at adults
50+ who seek ways to integrate technology into their every day
lives. Educational resources, news, upcoming events, different
chat rooms, online courses, tutorials and more are available
on this robust site.
Have you ever tried to copy a picture from a website only to
realize that the page has disabled the ability to right click?
Here is how to get around that. Press “ALT” + “Print
Screen” (to the right on the same row as the function
keys, F1-F12) at the same time. This will take a ‘snap
shot’ of what ever is visible on your monitor. Open a
document such as Word or Paint and press “CTRL”
+ “V” or right click and select "Paste"
to view your snap shot.

Mike Fatica is the Director of ENTECH,
http://www.entech.org, a program that provides
tech services to nonprofits in Milwaukee and works with students
from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Mike has a broken leg and has to stay in the Wyndham if he's
going to be able to attend the NTC (see his message below.)
Unfortunately, the Wyndham is entirely sold out on Saturday,
so Mike can't get a reservation for his
NTC stay, and he's looking for a roommate.
If you're staying at the Wyndham and would like to cut your
hotel bill in half, please drop Mike a line at fatica@csd.uwm.edu.
Or if you know anyone who's also looking for a roommate at the
Wyndham, please forward this message to them.
