Tech Tip of the Week:

Problem #1: We'll start with something fairly basic. You need to deliver a presentation, but have no idea how to use powerpoint.
Solution: Here are some quick steps to get you started in how to Apply a Design to your Powerpoint Presentation
Step # 1: When opening Powerpoint you will see a window with 4 options.
Step # 2: Click on blank presentation, the click ok.
Step # 3: Then select the Autolayout of the slide that you wish to you use.
Step # 4: Go to Format and select apply design
Step # 5: There are several different types of presentation design templates. Select the design that you wish to use.
Step # 6: Select the Apply Button. You can now begin content development.

Problem #2: You need a database program to manage a growing donor base, but you don't have the time or the expertise to build one out using Access or other database program.
Solution: Techrocks, a Philadelphia-based technology solution nonprofit,
has developed a donor management database that is completely functional out of the box. Download the free copy at www.ebase.org

TOPIC: Funding Opportunity for Education Organizations
The National Education Association is focusing the energy and resources of its 2.2 million members toward the restoration of public confidence in public education. In order to help local Associations to use the ESP Information System and other on-line resources in carrying out our strategic
focus, the NEA has created the ESP Technology Grants. These grants are awarded to Educational Support Personnel local Associations (not to individual members).
The Technology Grants are administered by the NEA Office of Educational Support Personnel, and are awarded in amounts from $250 to $3,500. In the third year of the Technology Grants program, 16 grants were given to ESP locals around the country. General Information: 2001-2002 Technology Grants The NEA ESP Information System (ESPIS) is pleased to announce that it will be awarding Technology Grants for the fourth year. These grants provide an opportunity for ESP locals to involve ESP members in the application of technology in projects that could help their locals,
schools, and/or communities and that could advance NEA's strategic focus of restoring public confidence in public education.
Grant Guidelines:
The grants range from $250.00 to $3,500.00.
To get an idea about the kinds of projects that have received Technology Grants in the past, go to http://www.nea.org/esp/espnea/techgrnt.htm the
NEA ESP Web Site, or contact ESP.Program@nea.org at NEA's office of Affiliate Capacity Building (202 822-7131, 1201 16th Street N.W., Room 410,Washington, D.C. 20036) for a printed version of this information.
Grant applications will be reviewed by the ESPIS User Group and will be awarded, in part, based on the integration of the ESPIS, the involvement of ESP members, and the merits of the proposed goals and projected outcomes. The proposed project's contribution to achieving the NEA Strategic Focus and the completeness of the application form are also important factors.
